Dusky Horizon
Inspiration:
A West-Texas evening where the sun has just slipped away: distant mesas in silhouette, the Belt of Venus glowing rose-peach above a slim band of twilight blue. Evokes quiet anticipation and gentle awe—the world holding its breath between day and night. Encourages the viewer to pause and feel the spacious stillness of open desert skies.
Form and Palette:
• Sculpted with wire mesh as base. Adding plaster layers and drywall mud to achieve highs and lows that reflect the mesas at the horizon.
• Acrylic glazes of soft coral, blush pink, cool lavender and sky blue blended wet-into-wet for a whisper-smooth transition to reflect the sky gradient
• Added pearlescent glaze to reflect the last light in the sky
• Finished with satin varnish top coat
Medium & Size:
