Cloud calm

Inspiration:
This piece captures the hush that follows a summer storm—when clouds linger overhead like quiet breaths caught in the sky. The piece invites pause and reflection: it is weightless yet dimensional, serene yet subtly dynamic—an enduring reminder that stillness often follows turbulence.

Form and Palette:
Rounded plaster folds billow gently across the panel, their soft contours sculpted by hand. Painted with dove-grey and lavender acrylics as the base. With peach glaze in the folds to mimic the sunlight peeking through the clouds. Topped with a pearlescent glaze to reflect the way the piece changes and the viewer moves. Finished with a satin varnish topcoat.
